Permission of the Reverend Father Vicar General.

We, Brother Giacomo Scolari of Venice, Apostolic Vicar General of the Jesuate Congregation The Jesuates, or Clerics Apostolic of Saint Jerome, were a religious order founded in the 14th century, to which Cavalieri belonged., by the present document grant permission for the work titled Geometry, composed by our son in Christ, the Reverend Father Bonaventura Cavalieri—public Professor of Mathematics in the Nourishing University of Bologna and a Priest of our Congregation—to be printed, provided all necessary requirements are observed. Given at Ferrara, in the Convent of Saint Jerome, on the first day of November 1632.

I, Brother Costantino Bucci of the Order of the Jesuates of Saint Jerome, by order of the Most Reverend Father Vicar General, have read through the work on Geometry by the Reverend Father Bonaventura Cavalieri of the same Order, in which I find nothing contrary to the Catholic faith or good morals.
