An ornamental bookplate displays a double-line rectangular border with decorative floral flourishes at the corners. In the center, a circular seal for the Boston Medical Library features an open book with the motto "It preserves and teaches" original: "SERVAT ET DOCET". The text "BOSTON MEDICAL LIBRARY" circles the top, and "INCORPORATED 1877" circles the bottom. The words "FOUNDED A. D. 1875" appear near the book, flanked by laurel or olive branches.
