Treatise, or New Physiology
OF
THE MAGNET,
And magnetic bodies, and the great
Magnet the Earth, comprised in six books,
by WILLIAM GILBERT of Colchester,
Doctor of Medicine in London.
In which matters relating to this subject are treated
and explained most accurately and thoroughly
through many arguments and experiments.
Everything now diligently revised, and published into the light
more correctly than before, augmented and illustrated with figures,
by the work and effort of Mr. WOLFGANG LOCHMANS, Doctor of Laws
& Mathematician.
At the end of the book is added a most copious Index of chapters,
things, and words, which was missed in the previous edition.
Two woodcut devices are visible. On the left is a circular emblem depicting a bird, likely a pelican or phoenix, with a Latin motto in the border. On the right is an ornate crest containing a shield decorated with botanical motifs, topped with a crown-like element.
