and auspices, we have handed over to our Colinæus Simon de Colines, a famous Parisian printer of the era to be printed and published. Whatever labor, industry, or diligence we have exhausted in their correction or edition, we dedicate that to you, most worthy Prelate, and offer it as a perpetual monument of my observance toward you. For besides the exact erudition of languages which you possess, so that you can successfully act now as a poet, now as an Orator, you delight greatly in such matters and in all similar mysteries of nature and the wonderful crafts of things. The rarer or more difficult these are, the more you seem to desire and embrace them, as if you were born for a more secret philosophy. Add that I already owe you much, which deserves at least some worthy remembrance. For beyond that most humane affection with which you are accustomed to follow and receive me, you have occasionally gifted me with such an opportune and useful present that you have freed my mind from no small distress and have greatly increased my means. Of this benefit, as long as I live, I shall never be unmindful. How much you may be able to do in the future, we do not doubt will be clear to those who know your dignity along with your happiness. Therefore, do not be burdened, by your humane clemency, to accept this small gift liberally, and to expect better ones (especially of our industry and profession) in the near future, provided that I learn it has pleased you.
