...one must dispute the conformation of both codex F and the archetype, as far as we can conclude about it from F. Spengel discussed these matters more fully and likewise excellently in his commentary (p. 435 sqq.), partly in agreement with Keil (cf. also preface² p. XXXIV sq., where there is an error in the numbers twice).
Codex F once began with three quaternions, the second of which, which was present to both Victorius as he collated and to the apographs, later disappeared entirely and has already been sought in vain by Bandinius. There follows a ternion increased by a leaf attached after the first, soon a quaternion with a leaf attached near the end, and finally the remains of these books are closed by a binion.
