The circular seal of the University of Florida appears. The outer border contains the text "University of Florida" at the top and the date "1853" at the bottom. Inside the seal is a central illustration of a landscape with a palm tree and a plow before a rising sun over a body of water. Encircling this inner scene is the Latin motto "Civium in moribus rei publicae salus" original: "The safety of the republic is in the character of its citizens.". At the base of the central illustration is a banner with the phrase "IN GOD WE TRUST".
