in the tables of Beck transmitted to him by M. Thompson, a most famous man.
Mona. Monacensis Latinus 6392 (Monac.), formerly Frisingensis 192, is ascribed to the eleventh century in the catalog1). It is written on parchment of octavo format in single columns. A second hand of the twelfth century, which uses paler ink, corrected many things and wrote them above the lines. Florus fills leaves 1–50v, and the seven summaries of Livy leaves 50v–55. It is better than the Harleianus, but has few things worthy of mention that are not also in C. More things from it than are brought forward in the annotations of this edition are in the dissertation of F. Schmidinger which is entitled 'Investigations on Florus' and is inserted in the supplements of the Annals of Philology XX p. 7812).
Paris. Parisinus Latinus 5802 (Paris. 5802), of parchment, of maximum format, in two columns, from the twelfth century, has Florus (fol. 69–94) between Suetonius and the stratagems of Frontinus. I spoke of it in the Rhenish Museum XLIV (1889) p. 70, note 1. P. de Nolhac, in 'Petrarch and Humanism' p. 203 sq., shows that the book was used by Petrarch.
1) To me, the book appeared to be one century more recent when I was allowed to use it in Breslau. However, Schmidinger writes in a letter to me about it: 'I place the manuscript in the 11th century'.
2) The same most learned man communicated to me by letter that in the readings brought forward by him from this book, the following must be corrected: p. 7, 5 Iahnii et populum fecit; 9, 26 possem; augur; 15, 9 marci manlii; ibid. 27 cremati vero suo igne; 17, 21 fugentes; 21, 10 pugnam tt; 22, 25 cum tot similes; 30, 15 posterius insessum deletum; 32, 2 amplius eam insulam; 38, 15 tunc o pudor; ibid. 16 fecerant; 44, 25 siphilum castra; 64, 25 inter amplius et postquam supra vers. muris; 66, 28 Oroden remuneratus est; 81, 26 in marg. m. 2. leges; 99, 18 fusus a cornu; 102, 15 quod — fecerat om.; 104, 6 incelti mutatum in in celtiberia; ibid. 13 thapsos supra tharsos m. 2.; ibid. 28 dilacio dignata est; 109, 1 duces non essent praesentes; 112, 23 deles?taeque; 113, 15 hoc (o uncertain); 115, 18 cum illyricus multitudine pontem; ibid. sauciis; 116, 20 inquiunt; 119, 8 semota (t uncertain and below it erasure); 122, 8 et utinam mutua; 123, 13 impleverant.
