Adigere to drive in, to drive a wedge into a fissure, Col. 5, 10. Ursinus wants to read: "drive the wedge of pine torch-wood into the fissure." Perhaps a scribe's error intervened; Ursinus meant "in fissuram." Sucklings must be driven to their mothers, Varr. 2, 5.

Adjicialis cœna inaugural banquet, Varr. 3, 6. This was the name given to the feast that pontiffs, augurs, and other priests gave to the people upon entering their offices; Macrobius 2, 9 describes it. In addition to him, one should consult Baccius on banquets 1, 2, and F. Ursinus in his notes to Ciacconius on the triclinium, p. 175. For this reason, Grævius (in the preface to Vol. XII of Ant. Rom.) prefers to say "aditiales," a reading favored by the scholar Angelo Poliziano. Thus it appears in Pliny 10. f. 23 and 29, 14, in both manuscripts and printed editions. And I think this is more accurate. Certainly, it is more etymological.
