PREFACE.
Passages from writers cited twice or more often by Nonius are indicated in the Commentaries only after Chapter II, such that almost nothing is missing. Some of those remaining have been supplied in the Appendix.
In the indices of the second volume, brief mention will be added of the editions and commentaries that we have primarily used in preparing this work.
Finally, we ask that attention be paid to the Appendix placed at the end of this book.
Now, truly, with all delay dismissed, read for yourself the Compendiosa Doctrina Compendious Doctrine of Nonius. Although it was not our fortune, any more than it was for Aldus, Iunius, or Mercerus, to make a wise man out of a dull one, you will nevertheless find it so changed that you will scarcely recognize Nonius in Nonius.
