On Medicine (De Re Medica)

PREFACE.

Hippocrates' words, and especially his aphorisms, which the author frequently translated into Latin, are distinguished from the text by capital letters. Added to these are many things desired in most editions: namely, the elegance of the typography, the brightness of the characters, the selection of paper, and a more convenient format, all of which justify our edition as far superior to others.

A decorative woodcut floral tailpiece features a central fruit, possibly a pomegranate or apple, surrounded by leaves and smaller blossoms.
