Many, many years have already passed since I began constantly dedicating the time remaining after treating patients and fulfilling my duties to the exposition of comparative psychiatry the study and treatment of mental illness from a point of view that is entirely new and belongs to me. However, a lack of confidence in my own powers, modesty, and caution have until now forbidden me from any publication of my theory. Today I make my first attempt, prompted by the premonition of a speedy transition into the mineral-chemical kingdom, the main inconvenience of which is the absence of consciousness. It seems to me
