...it must be argued regarding the conformation of both codex F and the archetype, insofar as we can conclude about it from F. Regarding these matters, Spengel discussed them more fully and also very well, partly together with Keil, in the commentary on page 435 sqq. (cf. also preface vol. 2, p. XXXIV sq., where there is an error in the numbers twice).
Codex F once began with three quaternions gatherings of four sheets, of which the second, which was present for both Victorius in his collation and in the copies, later vanished completely, having already been sought in vain by Bandini. There follows a ternio gathering of three sheets increased after the first leaf by an attached leaf, soon a quaternion with an attached leaf added toward the end, and finally, the remains of these books are closed by a binio gathering of two sheets.
