...had been changed by conjectures, that what the codices exhibited would not remain unknown. Interpolations are marked with curved letters. Sometimes I added the sign of a cross (†) or a lacuna (* * *), wherever it seemed that nothing could be achieved even by conjectures. I did not want to change the numbers of the Jacob edition, intending to consult the convenience of the readers.
Moreover, in the second volume of this edition, which will contain the commentary, the reasons for the accepted readings will be provided.
