Lo 44.136
An engraved bookplate for the Harvard College Library. The central element is the Harvard University coat of arms: a shield containing three open books with the letters "VE", "RI", and "TAS" (Truth). The shield is surrounded by a laurel wreath and set within an oval border containing the inscription "Insignia of the Harvard Academy, Cambridge, New England". Below the main seal is a smaller circular crest featuring a lion and a chevron with three martlets. The entire composition is set against a stone-like architectural pedestal.
