What is most pleasing to me, I have reserved for the end of the preface, so that I may praise the learned men who most obligingly assisted my work. Among them, almost every page will show with what tireless zeal MAXIMILIAN BONNET examined the Parisian books for my use. CAROLUS ZANGEMEISTER most generously shared with me his collations of the codices of Orosius. HENR. SEDLMAYER of Vienna, with the intercession of W. Hartelius, compared the Viennese codex of the cosmography they call Aethicus’s and other things with the greatest accuracy. FRID. OHLENSCHLAGER informed me about the Munich codex of the Dimensionis Measurements. AUGUSTUS LUCHS revised the Veronese list of provinces. I give thanks to all of these, the greatest thanks.
