By aesthetics the science of the beautiful/art we understand here only the intellectual intuition of art, for by art we understand here that art which, according to the expressions of the ancients, is a revelation of the gods, a herald of divine mysteries, the revealer of ideas. It is a necessary appearance flowing from the absolute self, insofar as it is directed toward imperishable beauty.
Can then even an uninitiated person the sanctified speak of art? Certainly. For art is the sublime real intuition, to which an ideal one likewise corresponds, or: art is the reflection of the ∞ Infinite/the Absolute in the real. Philosophy is this in the ideal. They are like archetype and image; the principle of the ∞ Infinite as such, which has no opposite, presupposes art, just as it does philosophy, therefore philosophy can penetrate most deeply into the meaning of art.
