greyish ink, written rather sloppily, elsewhere in darker and elsewhere in paler ink.
V² — scholia of codex V written by a rapid and negligent hand, which is easily distinguished by the shape of certain letters (such as $φ$ $\varkappa$ $θ$) in cursive; the ink is elsewhere greyish, elsewhere ash-colored, and as if covered with mold.
V³ — scholia of codex V written by a recent hand in black ink in small, round letters.
V⁴ — scholia of codex V written by a very recent hand in very black ink in small letters, rapidly and negligently.
V⁵ — a recent hand, which added one scholium (X no. 223). — I believe that I am able to ensure the distinction of all these hands of codex V; for after I had transcribed most of the scholia in Vienna, in the year 1886 I was permitted to examine the codex diligently again and to add the rest, since I had obtained from the generosity of the directors of the Imperial Library of Vienna that the codex be transmitted again to Copenhagen. What relationship exists between them and codex f, I shall explain in another place.
