That codices pv derive their origin from V is shown by common errors*), such as are at p. 196, 5; 222, 26; 224, 25; 230, 17 and p. 214, 11, where A in V is formed in such a way that it becomes very similar to the letter Λ; see furthermore the common compendium p. 194, 19. From p. 212, 3, where the error of codex V and the emendation are placed side by side in the text, it is apparent that at least one common archetype stands between V and vp, and this is confirmed by the fact that p and c agree with v against V (p. 152, 5; 156, 21; 166, 16, 17; 168, 10; 172, 7; 186, 5; 194, 9; 198, 2, 10; 218, 11**); 240, 21 besides the passages cited above; see that at p. 182, 14 the interpolated reading of codex v is written above in p) and with V against v (p. 186, 11; 192, 8; 198, 3; 200, 25; 218, 18; 220, 8; 222, 15; 224, 6; 230, 10; 234, 22; 238, 11, 14; 244, 8, 16; see that at p. 174, 15 the error of codex p arose from that way of writing of codex V, which v has preserved). Nor do we find anything of better record in p; for τε p. 144, 10 is slight and not entirely certain, at p. 178, 10***) the true reading was restored by correcting, at p. 158, 7—8 they are omitted in p by error, as appears from p. 6, 5, and it shares the remaining good emendations, such as p. 148, 15; 232, 13, with v. p is greatly interpolated (p. 166, 20; 190, 12; 212, 24; 216, 21; 224, 10; 242, 18; finally by correcting p. 168, 14, 21; 210, 9, 20), sometimes from the genuine recension (p. 162, 10, 13; 216, 4); p agrees with the corrected V at 182, 9; 200, 19. Also v and p in certain minutiae (p. 208, 20; 216, 8, 10) and in errors (p. 152, 8; 164, 14; 180, 9; 198, 11; 210, 13; see p. 156, 19; 206, 18; 220, 11; 228, 24; 236, 14) shows how closely it is connected with V (see in the Catoptrica p. 292, 5; 302, 22; 310, 6; 314, 6). And the readings it has which are more emended are for the most part so trivial that...
