I thought it necessary to say a few words by way of introduction to this volume of GALEN’S works. When the first part of my edition was published, I promised buyers that this collection would be more complete than any previous version. This current volume serves as proof that this hope was not raised without reason. It contains a compendium compendium: a condensed summary of a larger work of the sixteen books that GALEN composed on the differences, diagnosis, causes, and prognostications of pulses. This summary has never before been published in the original Greek.
Evidence that GALEN wrote such a book is found not only in chapter 5 of his own work On His Own Books original Latin title: "de libris propriis" (Volume 4, page 366, in the Basel edition The Basel edition of 1538 was a landmark Greek publication of Galen's works): "It has therefore come to pass..." original Greek: "γέγονε δ᾽ οὖν"
