The front cover of a historical manuscript or printed book. The binding features a double-line gold-tooled border. In each of the four corners, there is a decorative gold floral or foliate stamp. In the center of the cover is a lozenge-shaped (diamond) gold-tooled frame containing a stylized floral motif surrounding the Christogram "IHS" (Jesus, Savior of Mankind) with a small horizontal bar above the 'H'. The spine shows raised bands with remnants of gold tooling. On the right edge, metal clasps or catch-plates are visible, though the straps are missing.
