This image shows the fore-edge of a thick, closed manuscript or early printed book. The fore-edge is the outer edge of the pages opposite the spine. The edges of the numerous pages are visible. They display a uniform, aged, yellowish-brown tone. The binding is visible at the top and bottom of the frame. It appears to be made of light-colored leather or vellum. Vellum is a high quality parchment made from animal skin. The binding shows signs of wear and age. There is no visible writing, edge painting, or indexing on the paper edges.
