And he beseeches whomever he desires: the pronouncements, the suffumigations the act of burning incense for ritual purposes, and in this manner you shall give them a most sweet odor so that they may be benevolent toward you. Take one drachma of powdered laurel leaf, one drachma of powdered balsam leaf, and some mazu oak gall in pure balsam, and place them on a fire of aloe wood, saying: "Receive this in the most sweet odor." And whenever you wish to perform work for kings, do it in this way.
