CHAPTER IV.

How the Fountain of the Sages becomes Vegetable.

A small decorative initial letter U is decorated with patterns of flowers and vines. Our fountain, or the radical moisture of the world original: "Humidum radicale Mundi", can very easily reach the grade of vegetable plant-like perfection. Indeed, it is vegetable in and of itself.

2. For if it did not have the power to turn green, bloom, and grow, how could it communicate such power to other things? This fountain turns green by itself and brings forth all plants. It has no need for an external mover, because it moves itself to this operation of growth.

3. But the spirit of heavenly light prepares and mixes the pure seeds of the elements in a special way to produce plants. Through its special influence, it mingles something into them which causes the various types of plants.
