since they spring and grow from one fountain; but they do so in a different manner and way, and for a different purpose. For natural gold has need of the Gold of the Sages, but not the other way around.

Chapter VII.

How the Fountain of the Sages becomes Silver.

1. An ornamental initial letter U is decorated with floral patterns. Our fountain, made living and active by the spirit of heavenly light, is finally brought to the perfection of a white, shining, and meltable earth. This occurs as it is digested and boiled by its internal, innate, and natural heat of the earth and the place in which it is enclosed.

2. Nature boils this more and more and shapes it until it is transformed into perfect silver, along with the separation of all excrements impurities. This is the true preparation
