Just as the entire mystery and art of nature is situated in the natural composition of the subjects that act and the subjects that suffer, and God created all things in weight and measure, so too shall I teach you that secret about which no philosopher has ever written openly, but rather concealed with very learned words. Therefore, pay attention, my son: after God has helped you to prepare our Mercury, our Sulfur, and our Gold (which serves as a ferment for you), you should take:
| Ingredient | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Our prepared Mercury | 16 parts (Loth) |
| Our prepared Sulfur | 2 parts (Loth) |
| Our prepared Gold | 1 or 1 1/2 parts (Loth) |
Mix this all together in an earthenware, glazed bowl and grind it for three hours. Afterward, pour it into a glass vessel called a phial, which has a long, thin neck and is spherical at the bottom. Place it on the sand in the furnace and leave the glass open so that the humidity may escape. Afterward, lute it lutes: sealing the vessel with a clay paste and give it a gentle fire so that the glass is as hot as a roasted egg. Permit it to stand for four days and nights so that your stone may be well conjoined and receive the body and soul from them. This composition is for silver, but know that it is too long.
Take:
Our prepared Mercury: 24 parts (Loth).
Our prepared Silver: 3 parts (Loth).
Our prepared Sulfur: 2 parts (Loth).
Put this together just as with the gold, and the stone will arrive there as well, only you should know that the silver must be prepared in a different water than the gold, but you must bake it in the same way.
