The material for their stone lies clear and manifest before all eyes; however, I tell you that it is hidden within your own eyes. Indeed, the fountain of the wisdom of the wise flows from the human eye. Oh, how many spill this noble substance for the sake of vain things, from which they have no benefit. Others, who know well of its utility, make use of the wrong $\triangle$ (fire) to distill it. And because they know well that it must be born in sharpness and bitterness, they think that onions, garlic, and other sharp things must drive it out. But I tell you, my son, that there is no more than one single way to truly obtain it so that it serves our work. There is only one way, one $\triangle$, one vessel, one beginning, middle, and end, of which all true philosophers have written from the beginning. And because I have shown you the place where the material lies hidden, I will now, out of love for you, also show you the $\triangle$ and the manner to obtain it. All other ways are errors; they may be and occur in whatever manner one wishes, yet none is the true key except this one. Now listen, I will indicate it very briefly, and then confirm it with the writings of the wise.
