If it is approved by good men, the glory due is returned to God; since He willed it to shine through me in the eyes and minds of the pious, it is for this that I offer Him immortal thanks. Nor do I think the judgments of good men are to be despised, just as the levity of the common people is to be considered as nothing. Time will reveal the progress of the youth.
Vicious haste toward universities.
And I wish that individuals would remain in their exercises for a long time, and not aspire to the universities with such premature appetite. A tree or a planted shoot cannot strike firm roots and solidify in a short time. Things that are seized upon superficially and in passing fall away and are overturned by a light motion.

The false persuasion of learners.
Regarding what you reported about certain disciples who lightly cast aside their exercises, I know it to be true of some who, having perceived a light doctrine, attribute I know not what great powers to themselves, and believe they can understand even hidden things, as if the world were in their palm, with the teacher's science becoming vile to them as if too meager and childish. Indeed, out of disgust and nausea for such daily repetition, they strive toward new things, as they say, on white horses a phrase denoting haste or eagerness.
