serve for absolutely nothing. From this cause, those who wanted to experience and inquire into this precious art either deceived and were deceived, or strayed from their undertaking, fell away, and wandered far from it.

But I want to set before your eyes the truest experience itself (setting aside all deceit and obfuscation), with the addition of the opinions of the philosophers, which serves best for the right purpose, so that this thing of which we treat may be understood more openly and clearly.

Therefore, we make known first of all that all those who work outside of nature are deceivers, and act and labor in an unsuitable thing. Furthermore, nothing is born of a human except a human, from an animal an animal, and each produces its like. Therefore, what does not have something of its own within it cannot have something foreign according to its pleasure or likeness.
