A decorative rectangular border composed of a repeating pattern of interlaced scrolling foliage and stylized blossoms encloses the entire text. At the bottom of the page, integrated into the border, is a wide horizontal woodcut depicting three winged cherubs (putti) amidst thick acanthus-style scrolls; the central figure is positioned above a small cartouche or decorative mask.
BY THE PRIVILEGE OF THE SACRED IMPERIAL MAJESTY, it is cautioned that no engraver, chisel-worker, sculptor, printer, bookseller, or others exercising any book trade, shall presume to imitate, reprint, or bring in from elsewhere to sell, either publicly or secretly, without the will and consent of the aforementioned Doctor HENRICUS KHUNRATH or his heirs, the WORKS of HENRICUS KHUNRATH of Leipzig, Doctor of Medicine—whether written or illustrated, Medicinal, Chemical, Kabbalistic, or many other secret things, partly collected from elsewhere and partly written and invented by himself—and especially the AMPHITHEATRE OF ETERNAL WISDOM, of the sole true, Christian-Kabalistic, Divine-Magic, and Physico-Chemical, three-in-one, catholicon, etc., for a period of ten years, to be calculated from the first day of each edition, within the bounds of the Holy Roman Empire and the hereditary Kingdoms and Dominions of His Majesty, in any similar or other kind of character or form, either in whole or in part.
