Take one part of this powder upon fifty parts of raw mercurius, when it wants to smoke, thereafter one part of this upon a hundred parts. And know truly, as God has created me, that in the ♁ symbol for earth or antimony the highest mystery is contained, for nothing more needs to be added thereto, save only this ♁. Therein lies the whole tincture; do not despair, or do not doubt it, even if it goes slowly; therein you have what breaks the heart of mercurius; this tincture does not come forth before its time into the harvest.
Take antimony and tartar, equal parts, in a crucible well-luted in a moderate fire for several hours, thereafter pour the mixed water onto it, filter the same into a clean vessel, and dip a brush into good wine vinegar, and spray it onto it, so a redness falls to the bottom, which dry finely and cleanly, precipitate as you know; there is nothing to be achieved that is not fixed, the spirits which are in the metals. A great fool is he who wants to make fixed silver with volatile things, for he makes gold and silver with such also volatile, and loses the house in which the birds should keep themselves.
The astral eagle, or bird, which can swing itself into the heights and to the earth in its spirituality, and is an invisible smoke, is in a moment a penetrating chaos to all metals. This astral aquila eagle has its origin in the mountains, for new use, from a special rising vapor, attaching itself in a special place for coagulation, and looks, as the knowledgeable miners know, like a phlegmatic black-spotted material, which they sometimes call solver a solvent agent, because of the poison it possesses, which however does no one harm, unless it is moved hard. This phlegmatic material, so well obtained, led to a liquor, dissolves common gold to a spirituality, and where one can only have such upon eight lots, such is without end to augment with the sulphur also with other fixed metals, which have their origin from the nature of gold, and that is called the subject of the tincture. And where one cannot have this mountain vapor so soon, one finds also the sulphur in many mountains, and when the gold has attained its perfection and perfect growth, and the same is not soon found, so it grows again back into nihilum nothingness, and there is nothing found there but a poison, a decayed material, that is the most subtle sulphur, which has brought itself into its first matter, that is also one of the secrets.
