That it is well known that in ancient times among other nations there were Fraternities or Philosophical Colleges, which cherished the secrets of nature and this Medicine exclusively, and left them as if by hand, through many centuries, to successors chosen from the entire number of philosophers.
Whence it cannot seem absurd that there is also some society now, especially since it has opened itself through writings and deeds.
If, therefore, the German Fraternity has lasted until now for many years, just as it itself testifies, it has aimed for the honor of God and the utility of men, should it ever manifest itself, as has been done in this our time.
If the German society was to be revealed, it could not or should not have been manifested otherwise than it was done by those two writings, the Fama and the Confessio.
