CHAPTER IX.

That there is contained in those books nothing that is contrary to Reason, Nature, Experience, or the possibility of the thing.

CHAPTER X.

That very many are called by the said Fraternity, but very few are chosen, once the causes are considered.

CHAPTER XI.

The gods of the Egyptians, Sigalion or Harpocrates, were placed upon altars together with the Sphinxes, which denoted silence, which was also a five-year period for the Pythagoreans, and is observed by the said R. C. Fraternity, lest the secrets of Nature be prostituted to the common people.

CHAPTER XII.

But when they had the reason to reveal themselves to the World to some extent and to explore the judgments of the more learned, a cause was afterwards provided for them as to why they should cover themselves in silence for some time, and conquer and tolerate the first paroxysm through patience.
