But there is no reason for me to detain your Amplitude with more words. The matter itself will commend itself. Your pulpits, Most Ample, are full of works addicted to you: if you grant this one some corner alongside them, it is enough. If there is any virtue in it, it will shine even in the darkness.
Truly, I flee to your Amplitude with all submission and diligence, asking and contending that you hold me and my studies most commended to you, and that you assist and promote them in the ways you can (and you can in very many), and thus propel them with the breeze of your favor to the desired port, and take me into your protection and service. I shall not only incessantly solicit with burning prayers our merciful Father God for your health, and for the prosperity and salvation of your most flourishing state, but I shall also diligently apply myself night and day, so that I may render and show myself worthy of your benefits, respond to the hope moved, and exhibit myself such in all my life that you may never have cause to repent of your patronage and benefit.
