also the Good (Bonum) in itself True, and in the contrary, since such Good is created by GOD the Almighty, and is therefore also True. The Evil, however (being called evil in itself), does not take its origin from the created or from the goods bestowed by GOD, but from other causes, and also is not an actual substance like the Good. Ignorance has its origin from the Evil; knowledge, however, or the recognition, is from the Good, that is, from the True. Nevertheless, there are some pieces and goods which are unknown in their own use, whence the beautiful little proverb: Blessed are the farmers if they could recognize their goods (blessedness), as is also the case with the Evil, in which some of the jurists are considered very necessary in the common good and Republic Commonwealth, indeed are also to be tolerated to some extent, as namely usury and common brothels, although the same is not to be understood as such for their own sake, but only for the sake of another, or against another. Likewise, there are still various good and evil pieces and goods hidden, which until now have not yet come into human use, but rather can be brought to light and pulled into common use through their ingenuity and understanding.
