...is well known to Your Noble and Best Honors original: E. Gestr. vnd Besten; "Eure Gestrengen" was a formal honorific for those of high rank or military standing, but also that this little treatise original: Tractätlein was most submissively presented and handed over by me for your reading during the most recent Autumn Fair original: Herbstmeß; likely referring to the Frankfurt or Leipzig fairs, which were the centers of the European book trade held here. Your Honors have also looked through, liked, and approved the same, and furthermore have generously communicated with me at length regarding this and other writings of the aforementioned Honorable Doctor Referring to the author, Michael Maier.
Through this, I was moved all the more to continue in the production of this work. Therefore, I hereby dedicate original: dediciren and ascribe this my humble work with submissive diligence and service to Your Noble and Best Honors.
Most submissively and with the greatest diligence, I ask Your Noble and Best Honors that you might graciously accept this my well-intended and submissive affection and the address Compellation; from the Latin "compellatio," meaning a formal address or calling upon someone by their titles of your highly praiseworthy names, and otherwise be and remain my most generous and powerful patron. I am in submissive confidence that this little work, under the protection and patronage original: patrocinio of Your Noble and Best Honors, [will be safe] against the bites of the detractors original: Zoilorum morsus; a classical reference to Zoilus, a critic known for his harsh attacks on Homer; the phrase refers to the "bites" of envious or unfair critics
