Sulphur, not only do the remaining metals, such as Gold, Silver, etc., and likewise certain semi-metals, such as Bismuth, Antimony, Zinc, etc., grow together under the earth and take the origin of their generation—all of which would otherwise be of the greatest rarity and scarcity in life, were it not for the singular disposition and blessing of God, this Mercurial substance would not always be pre-conceived and coalesced in the deeper recesses and caves of the earth or more secret hiding places—but also, it is excellently adapted to the various uses of human life, while it is necessarily sought and employed partly for the gathering of Gold and Silver, partly for the gilding of vessels, and partly also for the perfection and polishing of other mechanical works.
Above all, however, it serves no little purpose for medical use as well, since from it all kinds of brilliant, precious, and salutary medicines are prepared and composed, which, in the conquest of certain most serious morbid affections and in the recovery of weakened health, have been found many times to have brought opportune, welcome, and desired help.
