The First Chapter.

Beginning, when the Spirit of God hovered over the
water, who had been from eternity
without beginning. The great
world, as heaven and earth, was
first; thereafter the small world,
as man, was taken from the great,
so that the water was separated
from the earth. The water was the matter
upon which the everlasting Spirit of God
hovered. Out of the noblest earth,
as its fifth essence original: quinta essentia; in alchemy, the purest and most essential constituent of a substance, beyond the four elements., the small world was
formed, through the moisture original: aquositet that
was still with the earth, and all was
natural alone. But after the breathing in of the
warm divine breath, the supernatural
immediately joined it, so that natural and
supernatural were thus linked and bound
together. The great world is perishable,
although a new earth or world will come
to be; but the small world is eternal. The
great perishable created world will
become nothing again, just as it was
made from nothing; but the small world will
be clarified original: clarificirt; meaning to be purified, made transparent, or glorified into a spiritual state. through the Spirit of God,
because the same Spirit possesses it,
and out of the previous earthly water [will make] a heavenly glo-
