On Natural and Supernatural Things

Nebuchadnezzar, and yet were miraculously saved unharmed by God’s means (Daniel 3).

In the same manner, the confusion of tongues and the pouring in of many different languages, which occurred during the foolish building of the Tower of Babylon—which was to be erected up to heaven—was recognized as a supernatural wonder and miraculum miracle.

Furthermore, it was also a supernatural sign that the Israelites, like dogs, had to drink water with their tongues when they were to fight against the army of Pharaoh by God’s command. Likewise, the sending out of the dove from the Ark of Noah, which brought with it a green olive leaf as a sign of grace, was a divine supernatural message.

That the holy man of God, Moses, struck a hard rock with his staff, and the stone rock had to yield water, was beyond human reason, just as it was supernatural that the salty water had to become a
