Whatever thing is manifest, consider the body of Jupiter, in it the six remaining corporeal metals are spiritually hidden, one more deeply and remotely than another. Jupiter is not a participant in the Fifth Essence, but is of the nature of the four elements; therefore, its fluidity is manifested by a small heat of fire, and its coagulation is likewise completed by moderate cold, and it has communion with the other metallic fluxes.
Therefore, the more similar one thing is to another by nature, the more willingly it is united to it if they touch each other; and it is much more effective and sensible when nearby. For that which is far away does not press; nor is that which is remote, however great, much feared. Thus, neither is heaven desired, because it is far away and seen by no one; nor is hell feared, because it is far removed, the form of which no one knows or has seen, nor has felt the torture, and therefore it is held for nothing. Therefore, absent things are made of little account, or are plainly rejected, being established in a coarse place; for by the property of place, any thing is deteriorated or improved, which could be proven by many examples.
So, the further Jupiter is from Mars and Venus, and the closer it is to the Sun and Moon, the more golden and silvery it is in its body, and it appears greater, more powerful, more pellucid, more sensible, more beautiful, more pleasant, more notable, more tangible, more true, and more certain than it does from afar.
