which Venus finds one similar to herself, but this bath was prepared by that ancient Draco Dragon/Serpent, when it had lost its strength and power. But this is nothing else, says the philosopher, than a double Mercurius Mercury. In this its name lies hidden, which must be sought with all diligence and assiduous labor.
It seemed advisable to me to append here these few, but most important words of Hermes and Brother Basilius, because they agree excellently with this work of mine which I have described here. Therefore, what I have said more often, the same I affirm here again: he who knows the Sales Salts, and especially Nitrum Nitre/Saltpeter and Vitriolum Vitriol, well, and has their conjunction known and perceived, is well-versed in Medicine and Alchymia Alchemy, and understands the Smaragdina Tabula Emerald Tablet of Hermes sufficiently and more than enough. Paracelsus and Basilius described Vitriolum, the excellent emerald, and Nitrum, the royal infant of the Sun, at length, with whose descriptions I acquiesce for this time. I shall make a more lengthy mention of them in my Centuriae Centuries/Hundreds: I could not omit what I have added here for certain reasons.
☞ From these few things, however, it is manifest with what powers the Sales abound, and what miracles they produce when they are cast into the Ignis fusorius melting fire: such, undoubtedly, are the salts which have been strengthened by a double spirit poured upon them from above. These Sales, I say, are accustomed to fill not only the oil jars of the poor widow but also her cellars and barns with wine and grain.
