But let no one interpret otherwise that I am making some comparison between the miraculous powers of the Sales and the miracles of the Holy Prophets. For the thing itself bears this with it, and to the Natural light, by such comparisons, great strength is added, a matter about which we shall speak more fully elsewhere. Whoever has the nature and properties of the Sales known and perceived, and is in some way skilled in handling fire, will easily learn so much from these things that he will easily perceive the useful transmutation of baser metals into better ones. However, for this operation, manual arts, peculiar furnaces, and singular mixtures of metals are required, of all of which he must have knowledge who desires to be occupied in these operations with fruit. The whole operation, with all the required apparatus and all things pertaining to it, will be offered to be seen in my laboratory this summer, if it pleases God.
