INDEX OF PROHIBITED BOOKS, published by order of Pope Alexander VII; Rome, in the year 1665.
In this edition, the BULL of Alexander VII concerning the Index of Prohibited Books is added, taken from the Roman Edition produced in the year 1664.
So that the reader may not be ignorant of the true origin of the Prohibition of Books, the following are exhibited from the same Roman edition of the year 1664:
TRIDENTINE INDEX, such as it was promulgated by Clement VIII.
And also,
INDEX OF DECREES: in which stand all the Decrees composed after the previous promulgation of the Tridentine Index by Clement VIII, up to the 20th of February in the year 1664. Finally, we have added here:
DECREES published from the 20th of February 1664 to the 7th of May 1667, and posted in the usual places, which, printed, have been able to reach us with every care applied.
