eternal Spirit of the Lord was borne upon the waters, the Macrocosm, that is, heaven and earth, was first founded; then the microcosm, man, was formed from the macrocosm, after the water had been separated from the earth, the water was the matter upon which the eternal Spirit of GOD was borne. From the most noble earth, as if from its fifth essence, the microcosm was fashioned, through the remaining wateriness of the earth, but all these things were only natural; after the warm divine inspiration, however, the supernatural immediately intervened, and thus the supernatural and the natural were joined together. The Macrocosm is fleeting and perishable, even if a new world is constituted, but the microcosm is eternal. The Macrocosm will be reduced to nothing, whence it was also made, but the microcosm will be clarified through the Spirit of GOD, because this possesses him, and from the former earthly water it will fashion a clarified heavenly water; then it will appear that the first matter had been changed into the last, and the last into the first. The cause, however, of the destruction of the macrocosm is that the Spirit of the Lord will change His seat and dwelling within it and transfer it into the microcosm. For man is a temple of the Holy Spirit, unless he contaminates himself and adjudicates himself to hell, by which very act a division intervenes and GOD flees from him, whom He created in His own image and dedicated as a temple to Himself. Furthermore, all things that are given in the macrocosm are also contained in the microcosm, namely, heaven and earth with the Elements, and those things which are related to these and joined from the firmament.
