Similarly, all Najades water nymphs, Sirenes sirens, Succubi female demons, and the rest of the Nymphæ nymphs, and those things which are related to them, hold a place among supernatural things; likewise, earthly spirits, those who inhabit the air, offering themselves to hearing, sight, and touch, sometimes announcing death or some other evil, at times also signifying fortunes and treasures in certain places by their apparitions; to these, in addition, are added fiery spirits, showing themselves under the form of fire and a burning torch, all of which are incorporeal spirits and yet not infernal, which lie in wait for the souls of men as eternal treasures, just as the Stygian Lucifer Light-bearer/Satan and those excommunicated companions of his with him are accustomed to do. But such are the Spirits who, presented to men in admiration above nature, are fed, nourished, and pastured solely from the Elements and afterward cease in this earthly world, perish together, and vanish, deprived of a redeemed soul. Concerning these I add nothing more now, but I leave their further treatment to another time and more convenient place, where I will compose a singular treatise on visions and their spiritual apparitions, which the greater part of the world judges to be contrary to nature, when in truth they are indeed natural, but are found to be supernatural with regard to their operations and their wondrous qualities.
