and it is an altogether heavenly thing, which looks toward Theology, the judge of souls. Furthermore, the Angels of GOD pertain to supernatural things, endowed with clarified bodies, performing that by the permission of their creator which otherwise consists in the powers of no creature, since the works they exhibit are hidden from the world. Nor are the works of infernal spirits any less hidden, which are permitted to them by divine allowance.

In the first place, however, the great works of GOD are perceived and known supernaturally because they cannot be judged and comprehended by any human thoughts. Such is primarily the supreme grace and beneficence of GOD, which He bestowed upon men, moved by love, in an infinite and inscrutable manner. So too are many other miracles performed through Christ our Redeemer and Savior, in confirmation of His omnipotence and glory, variously and frequently manifested, as when He raised Lazarus from the dead, the daughter of Jairus, and the son of the widow of Nain: He restored speech to the mute, hearing to the deaf, and sight to the blind. All these are the supernatural wonders of GOD, just as His conception, resurrection, descent into hell, and ascension into heaven remain hidden to the highest degree and are revealed only through faith.

To supernatural things are also referred the ascension of Elijah into heaven and of Enoch, and likewise the Rapture of Saint Paul into the third heaven. Furthermore, many supernatural things happen through imagination, visions, and dreams, just as many miracles often proceed through imagination, in the same way that multi-colored sheep were born through the benefit of variegated rods placed in the water.
