and indeed, the number of the persons and their ternary of gifts, and the supernatural star, import something singular and mystical.

Nor was the dream that occurred to the wife of Pilate, who falsely judged our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to death, a natural one. The vision of the Angels to the shepherds at the birth of Christ, as well as those made to the women at His sepulcher, is by no means to be considered natural.

What of the fact that many other supernatural things happened frequently through the prophecies of the Prophets and the Saints? The voice of the ass speaking to Balaam was not consistent with nature, just as the interpretation of dreams by Joseph exceeded the powers of nature. GOD also frequently protects us from infinite evils through the ministry of His Angels and snatches us from necessities and dangers, for the repelling of which the powers of nature would otherwise not suffice.

Therefore, all these things and many others look toward Theology and are heavenly things, which the soul ought to attend to. To these, furthermore, succeed the supernatural realities of the visible creatures of GOD, just as we perceive in the firmament, the Planets, and the stars, together with the Elements, which also surpass our reason, though we observe their course through the computation (speculation) of astronomy. Such creatures, however, perform their operations in a visible, yet incomprehensible manner, in the manner of a magnet, from which proceed just as many miracles, very far removed from nature. But hold to this: that the heaven flows into the earth, and the earth in turn responds to the heaven, for the earth also
