Chemical-Philosophical Treatise on Natural and Supernatural Things

nurtures the seven Planets, which are generated from the seven celestial bodies, but through a certain spiritual impression. Since all stars generate Minerals, these things therefore happen in an incomprehensible and spiritual mode, and thus they seem to be supernatural, by the example of two people loving each other. The human body is visible and physical, but love is invisible, spiritual, incomprehensible, and supernatural, to be compared only to magnetic attraction. For invisible love, enticed by desire through spiritual imagination, is satisfied only when its thirst is quenched.

In the same way, when the love of heaven inclines toward the earth, and the affection of the earth tends toward man—as the love of the macrocosm to the microcosm, since the latter depends upon the former—when now the earth conciliates to itself the love of heaven through the desire of its invisible imagination, a conjunction results from the higher with the lower, by the example of the male and female, who are fashioned by us as under one body. After the conjunction, the earth, impregnated through such an influence, begins to bring forth, according to the influx that was made. This birth, after conception, is then cooked by the Elements and matured to perfection, which is reckoned and counted among supernatural things, how the operation of a supernatural thing descends into a natural thing.

Among supernatural things are also placed all Magical and Cabbalistic arts, which proceed from the true light of nature. I do not mean those that reek of superstition or illicit conjuration of spirits, but I understand such Magic here as
