Regarding the authors who, as the study of numismatics spread throughout the learned world from the 16th century, have rem numismaticam scriptis erudite illustrarunt eruditely illustrated numismatic matters with their writings, and have deserved the highest praise in their own time, and who have published either introductions, or more general explanations of numismatic science, or illustrations of coins, especially ancient ones, (of whom there is no small number): we think the following writers, arranged in alphabetical order of their names, deserve to be mentioned here and commended to those studying numismatics for their writings which are worthy of note and reading:
