An author from Praeneste, a Roman pontiff and sophist, who lived in Rome under Emperor Antoninus Pius, nicknamed Meliphtongus and Meliglossus original: "honey-tongued" for the sweetness of his speech; he lived in the 2nd century after the birth of Christ in Rome, in the time of the praised emperor, and his XVII books on the History of Animals are not to be despised; but there are many things in them that are suspicious, also not a few that are entirely false, and a part even impossible.
