Others, however, seeing that so few
people are found who have truly pos-
sessed the lapidem philosophorum stone of the philosophers,
fall into slandering, reviling, and
despising it, as if it were pure
fantasy and fraud.
And it has now also come to pass among
the ignorant, sadly, that the ars chymica art of chemistry/alchemy
is a res odiosa hateful thing to them,
and it is spoken of quite shamefully by such people
who venture into this study.
Yes, some even dare to call it a
devil's work.
